A SCRIPTURE THOUGHT

"I can do all things through him who strengthens me."

Philippians 4:13

THINGS TO PONDER

Well, no one has chimed inwith any comments about the ski trip. Hey guys, if you are reading this why not share some of your favorite moments and experiences from the trip in the Comments.

I recently read some things that really made me think. Do these items make you think?

Does this describe you?
Two separate university studies have found that young people who have an ongoing, everyday relationship with God are happier, healthier, safer, more law-abiding, and more satisfied with their family relationships.

Or does this describe you?
For the vast majority of teenagers, God is irrelevant to their everyday lives existing only in the background of their lives, waiitng to be summoned only when they have a problem.

Which description fits you? Which would you rather fit you?

SKI REPORT

Well we made it back safely from the ski retreat. And I managed to keep my skis on the whole time. Actually that is not entirely true. I did manage to take a tumble and knock one of my skis off but at least they stayed on the whole time while I was on the ski lift. And no hospital visits this year so YAY for that.

We had plenty of spoons, sardines, spades, ice skating, shopping, nature walking, smores, pizza, skiing, initiations, mafia, DDR dancing, movies, and nature shows. And we learned the Beatitudes. Who is now living a radical life following wht we learned? And did I mention it snowed. It snowed on us Sunday night as we headed to Sugar Mountain and snowed most of the night. It made the trip back to our house a little treacherous but we did better than that ambulance did.

The ski trip is over but there is more fun stuff ahead. Winter Jam is coming up and we will be learning about Acquire the Fire rally this week. That is coming in March. The Newsboys will be at Acquire the Fire. YAY! Also we are going to go to Skateland on January 30 to pass out gifts and skate with the kids.

Get ready to have fun but rememeber to watch out for mountain lions and GET OUT OF HERE BEAR!

LET IT SNOW!

Counting down the days to the ski trip. With weather in the 60's and 70's lately I am hoping it gets cold in a hurry. The temperature is supposed to drop dramatically this weekend with a good chance of precipitation so LET IT SNOW! And please let it not be 35 degrees and raining. We have a really big group going--17 total and 13 youth so everybody bring sleeping bags and blankets because we will be using most of the floor space. Lots of new faces too which is cool so they can try their hand at sardines. Hopefully this year there will be less dogpiling and raving and certainly less trips to the ER. And hopefully we will have good opportunity to step away from our busy daily lives to learn and reflect how Jesus wants us to live radical lives. See everybody Friday at 4:00 sharp!

REFER A FRIEND

OK Katie knows what's going on here but I don't know about anyone else (maybe Caitlyn). How ya gonna know what's going on if you don't check it out. So here is my request--it's time to refer a friend. And Katie I guess we are starting with you. Tell somebody from IPUMYF to come check out the blog and to post a comment so I know they came by. Then that person needs to refer somebody else by. And what do you get for referring a friend. A fabulous dinner out? A shopping spree? A new car? Yeah. Umm No. You don't get none of that. But you will get my thanks and that should be plenty, don't you think? So let's get REFERRING!

And if we get enough people coming by to make it worthwhile, you'll probably start getting more posts from me about what's going on and maybe even just random thoughts from your fearless leader. You know you want more of that.

WHAT'S UP FOR THE NEW YEAR

Lots of things to know about for the new year and we are getting started fast and furious in January. First meeting is January 9. Then the big Ski Trip is January 14-17. We'll be skiing and sardining and trying not to make any repeat visits to the ER and rocking out upside down with the Beatitudes. My ski lift buddy is not going so I guess I'll have to look for another one--maybe Dennis. Then the big praise and worship event kicks off February 6 and we are going to try to get loud early in the morning. The new date for WinterJam is February 10 and I can't wait to see Building 429 there. We'll also be parking cars at the circus right about then. Lots to do. Get ready!
